Alpina unveiled its Alpiner 4 Automatic GMT Business time watch replica in 1938 with the four features the brand believes any sports watch should have: antimagnetic, shock-resistant, waterproof and rustproof. The fab four returned in 2014 with the launch of the Alpiner collection designed for mountaineers and winter sports fans. The bezel rotates both ways and has a compass. In terms of technique, the case houses a self-winding mechanical movement designed by Alpina in its Genevan factory: the AL-550 GMT calibre fuels the time, GMT and date functions and the 38-hour power reserve.
The black or silver sunburst dial displays local time, hours, minutes, seconds and home time in the centre. Home time stands out from the rest with its green arrow-tipped hand that glides over a two-tone circular scale. A blue and red graduated 24-hour scale runs the length of the chapter ring with regular business hours (9am-5pm) whilst the date display lies at 3.
This same dynamic and demanding spirit has gone into the new Alpiner 4 Automatic GMT Business Timer, a Alpiner copy watch that epitomises the famous “4” concept and meets ISO764 (magnetic field resistance) and ISO1413 (shock resistance) standards. The 44mm steel case is waterproof to depths of 100m.
